Chery Tiggo Cross

The SUV That's About to Outshine Your Social Life

You know that moment when you show up at a party and everyone’s dressed casually, but then there’s that one person wearing something so stylish that you wonder if you’ve been invited to the wrong event? Well, that’s pretty much the story of the all-new Chery Tiggo Cross, set to launch in South Africa before the end of 2024. This SUV is about to stroll into the highly competitive compact SUV scene like it’s casually crashing a black-tie gala. And yes, it's bringing its bold grille and flashy LEDs to the party.

After making quite the entrance at the 2024 Festival of Motoring in Gauteng, the Tiggo Cross decided it liked the attention and is coming back for more. Slotted snugly between the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro, it's essentially the SUV equivalent of a middle child that refuses to be ignored. Chery SA says it’ll be arriving in November, just in time for the holidays, so you might want to consider adding it to your wish list—because Santa’s sleigh? Overrated.

We’re very confident buyers will appreciate the value this stylish new model will offer,” said Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager at Chery South Africa. Translation: They know it's going to be a hit, and they’re just trying hard not to sound too smug about it. ;-)

What’s New?

The Chery Tiggo Cross comes equipped with enough new features to make you reconsider your outdated ‘tech-savvy’ car from three years ago. It's rocking a diamond-patterned grille that’s so shiny, it might just blind the competition. Pair that with slim LED headlights that could double as laser beams from a sci-fi movie, and you've got a front end that screams “Look at me!” while also whispering, “I’m sophisticated, I swear.”

Around the back, you’ll find a striking tail-lamp design stretching across the tailgate, making sure everyone sees you leave in style—because we all know it's about making a grand exit, right?

Step Inside, If You Dare

The Tiggo Cross’s interior is so modern, you'll wonder if you’ve accidentally stepped into a tech conference. Expect user-centred functionality, a.k.a. features designed to make sure you never fumble with anything while driving. There are more convenience features than you’ll know what to do with, meaning you might start thinking you’re living in the future (minus the hoverboards, unfortunately).

And because Chery knows that we live in a time where cars are judged by their warranty as much as their looks, they’ve gone ahead and included their industry-leading 10-year/1-million-kilometer engine warranty. So if you’re the kind of person who keeps their car long enough to become emotionally attached, this one’s for you.

Under the Hood?

We don’t know much yet about the Tiggo Cross’s powertrain, but judging by Chery’s previous offerings, it’s safe to say it'll do more than just get you from Point A to Point B. Expect something that’ll make your commute slightly more exciting than listening to talk radio.

Why Wait?

With a launch date in November 2024, Chery has given us just enough time to hype up the Tiggo Cross before we all flock to dealerships. Until then, we’ll be left to imagine what it’ll be like to cruise around in this compact SUV, turning heads, and making all our friends question their own automotive choices.

Prepare yourself South Africa, because the Chery Tiggo Cross is about to CROSS your path, and trust me, you won’t want to be caught driving anything else when it does…
