New OMODA C9 Launch in South Africa:

A Luxury SUV We Can’t Wait to Get Our Hands On (Literally)

Oooh, the OMODA C9 launch—an event so glamorous, it made us wish we had personal teleportation devices to get us there. Unfortunately, our invites must have gotten lost in the mail (We all know the postal service is pretty non existent these days). But rest assured, we’re following this launch like “The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan” on a case, hoping to get our hands on the wheel of this beauty sooner than later.

So, what did we miss? Well, OMODA South Africa pulled out all the stops at the Norval Foundation in Cape Town, a place so prestigious that even the sculptures have a higher net worth than we do. The luxury flagship OMODA C9 strutted its stuff like the supermodel of the SUV world, boasting both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options.

A Price Tag as Glamorous as the Guest List

Let’s talk money. The OMODA C9 FWD comes with a price tag of 785900 Zars, and the AWD version will cost you R885,900 That’s right—you could buy one of these or, you know, an tiny flat with no luxuries. But hey, for the first month, OMODA is slashing the prices to R760,000 and R860,000 respectively. Bargain, right? It's like luxury on layaway!

The C9: A Rolling Palace

Now, let's get into the juicy stuff—what does the OMODA C9 actually bring to the road? The C9 FWD comes packed with enough gadgets to make Batman and Co jealous. We’re talking about 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof to soak in all that Cape Town sunshine, and black leather upholstery so plush you'll feel like royalty. Heated and ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a 12.3-inch curved digital display combo—yup, it’s all here.

The AWD variant? Oh, it steps up the game with adaptive suspension, off-road driving modes (for the adventurous who like their luxury and mud), and a 12-speaker Sony sound system that'll turn your morning commute into a live concert. Let’s not forget the integrated fragrance system, because who doesn’t want their car to smell like success?

The Launch : Celebs, Art, and Us…in Spirit

Of course, this wasn’t just any ordinary car launch. The event was studded with A-list celebrities like Boity, DJ Zinhle, Minnie Dlamini, and more stars than an astronomer could handle. We weren’t there (still waiting on that invite, OMODA 😁), but it sounds like it was quite the party. Esteemed artists, media moguls, and personalities mingled while the C9 stood proudly, looking more photogenic than the entire guest list combined.

One of the event highlights? A one-of-a-kind artwork by visual artist Ramarutha Makoba that will soon be auctioned off for charity. In other words, this was a night of luxury, culture, and a whole lot of "oh wow" moments—all while we sat at home, browsing pictures on Instagram and crying over our FOMO.

So, When Do We Get Our Hands on One?

We might not have been lucky enough to rub shoulders with celebrities at the launch, but the real excitement is in the test drive. Until then, we’ll keep dreaming about that turbocharged 2.0-litre engine pushing 192 kW and 400 Nm of torque. Trust us, as soon as we can get behind the wheel, we’ll be putting the C9 through its paces and seeing if the integrated fragrance system can mask the smell of Chicken Licken as effectively as we hope…you know, because dieet things…

In the meantime, if you’ve got R760,000 - R860,000 burning a hole in your pocket (Just make sure you have proper insurance for that), why not grab one of these beauties at their launch price? Just be sure to send us pics —our inbox is open, OMODA! 😉
