Five-door Surprise at Festival of Motoring: Suzuki Unveils All-New Jimny

The Festival of Motoring has always been a playground for automotive enthusiasts, offering them a tantalizing glimpse into the future of driving. This year, Suzuki Auto South Africa took the event by storm with an unexpected revelation that left attendees buzzing with excitement. The festival grounds played host to the grand unveiling of Suzuki’s much-anticipated creation – the all-new five-door Jimny.

Seldom does a car manage to capture hearts before it even hits the streets, but the five-door Jimny accomplished just that. This latest addition to Suzuki’s off-road SUV lineup has taken the automotive world by storm since its global debut at the Auto Expo in India earlier this year. It has swiftly carved its niche in the market, emerging as a top-seller both within its segment and for Suzuki as a whole in the Indian market.

The Festival of Motoring served as the prime platform for South Africans to finally set their eyes on this remarkable creation. The five-door Jimny stood proudly on display, bathed in the mesmerizing Jungle Green hue that has already garnered immense admiration in the existing three-door lineup. Yet, beyond its captivating color, it’s the vehicle’s elongated wheelbase that truly sets it apart.

The extended wheelbase contributes an extra 340 mm of space compared to its three-door counterpart. This intelligent design move has enabled Suzuki’s engineers to introduce thoughtful features, like increased luggage capacity and an innovative ability to fold the front seats into makeshift beds – a boon for those intrepid souls venturing into the great outdoors. Importantly, these enhancements have been seamlessly integrated without compromising the Jimny’s legendary off-road capabilities.

Brendon Carpenter, the Brand Marketing Manager for Suzuki Auto, expressed, “With the overwhelming popularity of the new Jimny, and its three-door sibling, our production facilities in Japan and India are working at full capacity to meet the demand. We have already placed our first order and we hope to make it available for sale in the last quarter of this year.”

The festival-goers may have been disheartened by the fact that they couldn’t yet slide behind the wheel of the five-door Jimny, but Suzuki had other surprises up its sleeve. Attendees were treated to the opportunity to test drive two of Suzuki’s newest SUV offerings – the sleek and sporty Fronx, a coupé-SUV fusion, and the XL6, a spacious SUV designed to accommodate six occupants. Both models were recently introduced in August and have made their debut at the festival.

Carpenter beamed as he shared, “We have a number of units available and ready for visitors to test drive and experience. This is the first public opportunity to test drive these models and what a better venue than the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit!”

As the sun sets on yet another successful Festival of Motoring, Suzuki’s surprise reveal remains etched in the memories of attendees. The five-door Jimny’s imminent arrival has set the stage for an exciting chapter in the brand’s legacy, promising innovation, versatility, and unbridled adventure. The anticipation is palpable as South Africans eagerly await the chance to drive this automotive marvel on their own terms – and perhaps even find themselves dreaming of starlit nights in the wilderness, courtesy of the folding front seats in the all-new Suzuki Jimny.
