Jaguar’s Last Petrol Sports Car: F-TYPE ZP Edition Takes the Chequered Flag

In a fitting tribute to over 75 years of producing iconic internal combustion sports cars, Jaguar is gearing up to bid farewell to this era with the introduction of the limited-edition F-TYPE ZP Edition in 2024. Inspired by the legendary racing E-types from the 1960s, this exclusive supercharged V8 masterpiece is set to mark the end of an era in style. With only 150 units worldwide and a mere two earmarked for the South African market, the F-TYPE ZP Edition is poised to be an exceptional collector’s gem.

Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar, emphasized the significance of this release, stating, “As Jaguar embarks on the boldest transformation in its history, to become a modern luxury all-electric brand from 2025, this is an unrepeatable celebration of Jaguar’s internal combustion sports car provenance.”

The F-TYPE has held the hearts of sports car aficionados for over a decade, much like the E-type did five decades ago. The ZP Edition stands as the ultimate homage to this lineage, joining the esteemed company of heritage-inspired collector’s editions like the 2015 Project 7 and 2020 Heritage 60 Edition.

What sets the F-TYPE ZP Edition apart is its connection to Jaguar’s historic racing legacy, paying tribute to the first race-winning ‘Project ZP’ E-types campaigned in 1961. Two distinct color schemes are on offer – Oulton Blue Gloss with Mars Red and Ebony duotone leather interior or Crystal Grey Gloss with Navy Blue and Ebony duotone leather interior. Each boasts Porcelain White Gloss hand-painted racing-style roundels on the doors and Porcelain White Gloss grille surrounds, offering a unique and stunning visual identity.

These exterior paint options are entirely new to the F-TYPE range, mirroring the specially formulated paints created for the limited E-type Project ZP Collection cars, previously unveiled by Jaguar Classic.

The interior of the F-TYPE ZP Edition features exclusive details, including horizontal seat fluting, Gloss Black exterior accents, Gloss Black brake calipers, and custom F-TYPE ZP Edition branding on the fenders. Gloss Black Diamond Turned 20-inch forged alloy wheels, tread plates, and dashboard complete the bespoke touches. Each unit also bears a ‘One of 150’ SV Bespoke commissioning plaque, underscoring its exclusivity.

The F-TYPE ZP Edition is available in both Coupé and Convertible body styles. However, for South African enthusiasts, only the Coupé variant is available. Powered by a robust 423kW, with 700Nm of torque and an all-wheel drive system featuring Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) technology, the performance of this limited edition is nothing short of exceptional. It can sprint from 0-100km/h in as little as 3.7 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 300km/h.

Since its debut and subsequent accolades such as the 2013 World Car Design of the Year, the F-TYPE has consistently set the gold standard for driver-focused sports cars, known for its distinctive V8 soundtrack – a sound so iconic that it’s even archived in institutions like the British Library.

As Jaguar pivots toward an all-electric future, the F-TYPE ZP Edition marks the end of an illustrious era of internal combustion sports cars, giving enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of automotive history. With only 150 units in total and just two in South Africa, this limited edition F-TYPE is destined to become a cherished collector’s item and a symbol of Jaguar’s rich legacy. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of history in the making.
