Starting the race from the second position on the grid, Verstappen faced tough competition from the Ferraris, which had displayed impressive speed throughout the weekend. However, the Dutchman proved his mettle as he overtook Carlos Sainz Jr.’s Ferrari on lap 15, and from that point onwards, he rarely encountered any serious challenges. His impeccable drive resulted in his 12th win of the season, solidifying his dominance in the 2023 Formula One championship.
Reflecting on his historic achievement, Verstappen commented, “I never would have believed that was possible, but we had to work for it today, and that made it definitely a lot more fun.” Verstappen’s humility and dedication have endeared him to fans around the world, making him a true fan favorite in the sport.

Verstappen’s victory also propelled Oracle Red Bull Racing to a remarkable milestone, as they have now won every race of the season. This achievement underscores the team’s exceptional performance and Verstappen’s consistent excellence behind the wheel. In the drivers’ championship, Verstappen extended his lead to a staggering 145 points ahead of his teammate, Sergio Pérez, who secured a commendable second place in the Italian Grand Prix.
Sergio Pérez, reflecting on his race, said, “It is really satisfying to achieve P2 today, and it has been a brilliant day for the team. Overtaking was really difficult on this track, and the Ferraris were very fast on the straights, so it was hard to make my way through the field.” Pérez’s strong performance further highlighted the collective strength of Oracle Red Bull Racing.
Christian Horner, CEO and Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, hailed the team’s extraordinary victory. “This was a very special victory, but we had to do it the hard way,” said Horner. He acknowledged the formidable competition posed by the Ferrari drivers and praised his team’s hard work and determination. Horner also highlighted Max Verstappen’s incredible record-breaking achievement, which now stands at 10 consecutive wins, surpassing Vettel’s record from a decade ago.
Horner concluded by emphasizing the collective effort that drives success in Formula One. “Formula One is the biggest team sport in the world, and it requires every single person to do their job, investing in this car and sharing the same vision,” he said. With 14 consecutive victories in their pocket, Oracle Red Bull Racing is now set to take their unbeaten streak to the next race in Singapore in two weeks’ time.
As Max Verstappen continues his historic journey in Formula One, fans eagerly await the next chapter in his remarkable career, wondering just how many more records he will shatter in the seasons to come.
