Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe goes AWD
A fusion of cutting-edge technologies, including active roll stabilization in the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension, standard rear-axle steering, and dynamic active aerodynamics, heightens its performance profile. For the first time, the AMG GT Coupé adopts the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, harmonizing with the potent AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine to deliver an exceptional driving experience. Its distinct sporty design is combined with a 2+2 seating configuration, catering to both space and comfort for passengers.
Characterized by its “hyper analogue” theme, the interior seamlessly integrates high-performance sports car features with advanced digital elements. A focus on driver-centric design, premium materials, and meticulous attention to detail exemplify the cabin’s luxury quotient. The centre console is dominated by an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented multimedia touchscreen, backed by the intuitive MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. The optional 2+2 seating layout enhances interior versatility, allowing for comfortable seating for passengers up to 1.5 meters tall. Additionally, the EASY PACK tailgate, split folding rear seat backrests, and generous luggage space accentuate the car’s practicality.
Underpinning the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is a lightweight composite aluminum structure, boasting a sophisticated blend of aluminum, steel, magnesium, and composite materials. Active aerodynamics play a pivotal role in the vehicle’s balance and efficiency, with features like the two-part active air control system, retractable rear spoiler, and a Venturi effect-enhancing carbon profile hidden beneath the engine.
Powering the AMG GT Coupé are two versions of the AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, both hand-assembled according to the “One Man, One Engine” philosophy. The top model, GT 63 4MATIC+, produces 430 kW (585 hp) and 800 Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The GT 55 4MATIC+, on the other hand, generates 350 kW (476 hp) and 700 Nm of torque, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds.
Driving dynamics are elevated with the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs, offering driving experiences ranging from comfort to dynamic. Furthermore, AMG DYNAMICS adapts the vehicle’s stability controls and dynamic responses, enhancing both stability and agility. The AMG TRACK PACE system records and analyzes performance metrics, while active rear-axle steering, AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension, and a multi-link front and rear axle configuration contribute to the car’s exceptional handling and stability.
Various customization options are available to personalize the AMG GT Coupé’s appearance, including paint colors, wheel designs, and exterior design packages. It also features an array of driver assistance systems, providing an additional layer of safety and convenience. Overall, the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé showcases a fusion of advanced technology, performance prowess, and luxurious comfort, embodying the continued innovation of the Affalterbach development team.
